The 4TRENDS below have emerged as the most relevant topics we identified in November from partner discussions, current projects and headlines from #SportsBiz news outlets. Enjoy!  

Venue Renovations:

To keep up with an everchanging industry that has so much content and experiences available, professional and collegiate sports properties such as the Milwaukee Bucks, University of Wisconsin, Orlando Magic and Iowa State University are investing towards venue renovations with the goal of improving the fan experience areas in and around the stadium or arena.

Collegiate athlete marketing:

The Fair Pay to Play Act has taken college athletics by storm with the NCAA agreeing to allow athlete monetization of image, name and likeness. While this won’t go into effect for several years, watch as brands, sponsors and media outlets begin to strategize around college athletes.

Sportsbook Partnerships:

As the sports betting landscape begins to take off, several professional sports teams have turned to sportsbooks for partnerships. These partnerships allow for in-venue and in-app gambling. 13 of the 50 states in the US have officially legalized sports betting with 6 more having approved legislation.

Data-Driven Retail Shops:

Large sports retailers have struggled to bring customers inside their brick & mortar stores over the last few years, but Nike is leading the way with intermittent pop-up shops across the globe. These shops use data and consumer insights to fuel specific types of products that will be sold at each location. Watch as other retailers such as Adidas, Under Armour and New Balance follow suit.
